The Sunday Audit ™️

My intentional Sunday rituals have started to become more and more regular and I want to share with you what I do because it has been, honestly, life-changing for me.

First, I want to acknowledge the importance of rest on the weekends in general before I tell you what my Sundays look like (because it's a bit more productivity based). One of the biggest things I've been struggling with for a long time is allowing myself to rest without feeling guilty. I've intentionally been making myself take the weekends off to have open free time in the hopes that I'll be more creative, more social, more rested, and really get to recharge. It's been more of a challenge than I ever expected.. I find myself itching to create content or to edit my website or to work on client experience. I've been noticing that my work is sometimes far too tied to my self-worth and I think so many of us can relate to this. The more that I work, the more 'valuable' I’ve tended to consider myself.

Part of requiring myself to take the weekends off is to remember who I really am without my work and without having to prove myself worthy. It's an exercise in remembering that I am allowed to just exist.. and that is enough. It's a practice! And it's uncomfortable! The discomfort around this has also led me to self sabotage in certain ways in an effort to self-soothe.. like eating way too much or watching way too many episodes of a show, for example. What I've realized is that this all comes down with wanting a sense of control over my life. Working makes me feel like I'm in control. So.. resting in a way that is healthy is truly a surrender based practice.

I share all of that with you in the hopes that you feel less alone if you also struggle with self sabotage in certain areas or struggle with controlling your environment. Sitting with it and acknowledging it is the first step!

Now, as promised in the kickoff, I'll tell you what I've been doing on Sundays to stay centered as I get more comfortable 'letting go', if that makes sense.

I call it The Sunday Audit ™️. I'll grab a cup of coffee, and sit down at my kitchen table to do this journaling exercise that is intended to provide valuable hindsight reflection, sharpen your focus around your goals, and release any residual discomfort that has built up over the week. It's like a 'Rose, Bud, Thorn' practice if you're familiar with that!

Here is the exact format that I use, which you can copy and paste to do with me every Sunday!
